The Sing Sang Song Contest returns in 2024, bigger and better than ever before.

It's been a staple part of Manchester Calling in the past few years, but this year it will encompass all our MDE events.  We will be hosting, and indeed voting, in a completely different way this year too.  Every region of the UK will have a heat, a full list of these events will be announced by the Spring. Two dates are now confirmed and are listed below.

We are looking for singers over the age 18 to perform in front of audience and indeed our judges.  Both audience and judges will vote at the end of the performances. The winner of each regional heat will then perform in a Grand Final in November 2024 in Bristol.

As mentioned, each contest will either be linked to current MDE Event, or it'll be a standalone Event in its right. You'll be expected to offer us a song from the genre of the event.  So, Manchester Calling will require a Eurovision song, Ultimate 80s, an eighties song etc.  This is done for a reason that links into the winning prize.

The main performance part of the show will be 30 minutes, with each singer doing one song, at a length of 3 to 4 minutes.  Each singer must perform a different song to the others performing on the day. You’ll be expected to provide us with a backing track for this in advance. There will only be six slots available for each heat so there will be a pre-selection process before we announce the singers for any Event.

All our contestants must be 18 or over to participate.  This is due to the venues our events take place and the laws attached to their licencing.

The Regions are as follows:

  • Greater London

  • South of England

  • Southwest England

  • West of England

  • Central England

  • Northwest England

  • Northeast England

  • East of England

  • Wales

  • Scotland

  • Northern Ireland
